Fire Tutorial

To make this effect I followed the photoshop fire tutorial. Starting with an original image, you first adjust the face and add flames to go with the hair. To create the orange glow you paint the layer to the tone you want and adjust the gradients. Lastly, after brightening the eyes and face I added smoke and sparks.

Puppet Warp

Using the puppet warp tool, I bent both of her elbows slightly. First I quick selected her whole body and made adjustments to the layers. Next, using puppet warp I put pins in spots that I wanted to stay in place. Those that I wanted to move I adjusted and erased the original photo of her by autofilling.

Exploding Fruit

To make the lemon look like it was exploding I used photoshop. First, I added a cracked desert picture and used it to create a textured lemon. Next, I used the quick select tool to select parts from the middle of the lemon and moved them to the right. I made duplicates in order to create more pieces. After making the pieces look different and making some of them blurred I used the smudge tool to make the lemon actually look like it was exploding.

Repeating Flash

To make this photo we used repeating flash. On the bulb setting we were able to make the exposure as long as we wanted. We set the camera up on a tripod 2-4 feet away from the subject. We had her move her arms up and down and the repeating flash makes it look like she has a lot of arms. Because it was really hard for her to keep her head perfectly still, her face is not in focus but her bottom half is.

Painting With Light

The message I was trying to send with this photo was a contrast between simplicity and chaos. The umbrella I thought created a sense of mystery and gave it a story. In the background there is a lot going on and in the foreground the figure is simple. To make this image I filled the inside of a whisk with steel wool and attached the end to a dog leash. I had a friend light the steel wool with a match and swing the whisk in a circle. With a long exposure I was able to capture the light trails of the sparks which gave it this effect. To edit I made the blacks darker in light room, and used the clone stamp tool in photoshop to take out some of the light trails I didn't want in order to get a cleaner picture.

Music

This picture is made up of three different photos. The songs I chose all talk about roads and sunsets and made me think of road trips. I used the picture I took of my cousin playing with the music volume and cut out the windshield in photoshop. In the windshield space I put a different picture I edited. In the rearview mirror I put a picture of a sunset I took later that day. I wanted it to have a roadtrip hippie feel like the songs I chose.
